Dragonberry Opaque Lipsticks | REVIEW + Swatches

Hello all! During all the crazy boxing day sales (that weren’t exactly that crazy), Dragonberry, an online boutique, were having 50% everything. This sale included their opaque lipsticks, so I went on and ordered 4 to test out and today I thought I’d share my opinion on them!

Firstly, Dragonberry is an Australian-based boutique so I received my lipsticks in a good amount of time, and was happy with the overall customer service. Dragonberry Claims that the lipsticks are creamy and opaque.

The shades I ordered were:
Velvet Crush: A bright purple shade.
Bondi Blush: A nude/light pink shade.
Queen of Hearts: A dark yet bright pink shade.
Ruby: A red similar to Ruby Woo.

Packaging:

The packaging is super adorable! The lipsticks are in bullets, similar to MAC or Limecrime. I don’t have any MAC lipsticks so I cant compare the DB ones to them, but I do have a couple of Limecrime and I have to say the Limecrime ones are much more sturdy and weighty. This is understandable as the DB Lipsticks retail for $10 whereas the Limecrime lipsticks are usually $20/$25. They were wrapped up in light pink tissue paper with a cute little sticker, which I loved.

Formulation:

I felt as though the formulation was different for every lipstick. Both Queen of hearts and Ruby were gorgeous, bright and definitely opaque shades. Whereas Bondi Blush was very cakey, straightaway.

Top: Velvet Crush, Bondi Blush. Bottom: Queen of Hearts, Ruby.

How They Applied:

Queen of Hearts applied creamy and had a dewy yet not overly shimmer look to it. This is an amazing shade. Velvet Crush didn’t show up as deep purple as I was expecting, it kind of disappointed me because of this. Bondi Blush, as said above, applied cakey but otherwise is a really lovely colour. Ruby is such a beautiful red that I believe I will use the most, as I love reds.

Overall:

All in all, these lipsticks are worth the money. I wouldn't recommend buying Bondi Blush but all the other shades had amazing creaminess and were very vibrant. I will probably make another order for some more of these colours, I would also recommend looking out for the sales as they have 50% off lipsticks quite often.

Hope I helped if you were deciding to purchase some of the Dragonberry lipsticks!

Have a good day/night! xx

Empties #1

Hello everyone! Recently, I have ben emptying so many products and finally decided that it was time for an empties post!

I have quite a lot of products to show you as I have been rounding these up for a few months. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

I go through concealers like socks. Honestly, they’re my favourite part of doing my makeup and probably the only product I can justify always buying more of (apart from lipsticks of course).

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

I heard this raved about quite a bit on youtube and decided to pick it up. I went through it so quickly but as it began nearing the end of the tube, it became so orange toned. I left it for awhile bit have recently repurchased a new tube to see if it was as good as I remember. It’s still quite orange but once powdered, it fades really well into my skin.

Match Perfection Concealer

I had troubles with this concealer at first, I didn’t like the brush applicator and how quickly I felt it dried on my skin. Honestly I don’t know why but after leaving it for so long I retried it and actually fell in love. I finished it a couple of week later. I probably will repurchase this at some point.

Covergirl Concealer

I’m not going to rant about this, but this was my first concealer, I didn’t pick the right shade so I can’t do a very accurate review of it, but I wasn’t much of a fan.

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

This is definitely my favourite concealer ever. Although I hated the sponge applicator, I got used to it and the formula overruled! I love how light and creamy it is yet how high coverage it is! I have already repurchased this.

Now onto mascaras! Everyone goes through so many mascaras especially if you wear quite a lot and love change yours up!

Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara

I did like this mascara when I used it but haven’t repurchased it yet as I have been trying different ones. I think eventually I will repurchase it.

Maybelline The Falsies

I love this mascara! I have already repurchased it (the wrong one, oops) but if you are looking for a mascara that is extremely lengthening, this is the one to get!

Rimmel Wonderfull

I’ve raved about this one before and am still in love. I have repurchased it and am excited to use it again and again and again.

Rimmel 100% Waterproof Mascara

I probably wont repurchase this one as it wasn’t a huge deal in my eyes. I needed a waterproof mascara and picked this one up at a sale.

Rimmel Accelerate Mascara

This mascara is pretty good. I wouldn’t say its wow but it does a nice job of separating my lashes. I may repurchase this one day.

Now onto other catergories, this is a whole random bunch of empties.

Swisspers

These are my favourite makeup wipes ever. I haven’t tried the simple ones which I know are rave about a lot because I just keep coming back to these ones. They’re refreshing and I think I’ve been through over 3 packets of these.

Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Powder

I think everyone LOVES this powder and I am no exception. I think it’s lighter, yet more heavy-duty than the Maybelline Matte Maker.

Wake Me Up Foundation

I really wanted to love this foundation as so many beauty vloggers do, but I just cannot get over the shimmer. People always describe it as sheer but in my eyes it isn’t. It isn’t high coverage either, which I need with my skin.

Propoline Conditioner

Sometimes I see random products in Priceline that are reduced and I always seem to buy them, even though I probably shouldn’t. This conditioner was amazing. I love this one it did, if I remember clearly, incredible things to my hair and left it feeling so smooth.

Nivea 2 in 1 Face Wash

Eh. This one was average. I’ve now moved onto simple which I have emptied one bottle but didn’t take a picture of it). I probably wouldn’t recommend this, nor repurchase it.

Well, that’s it! Hopefully my next empties will be cut in half!

Have a great day, xx

January Favourites

Hello all! Well, the first month is over and I am going to try to do every single month of favourites this year. It’s quite a task for me as I’m terrible at sticking to a schedules but I will try to have a monthly faves on the last day of every month.

This month I have been kind of using the same products every day, and have also experimented with a lot of new products, as I have been working a lot so I’ve been earning more money which means I can blow more (I think?).

Anyway, onto the products:

Elf Eyebrow Kit + Real Techniques Angled Liner Brush

This eyebrow kit has literally transformed makeup for me! I cannot not do my eyebrows now and this makes it so simple! For $8 at kmart or $3 on iHerb it’s winner winner chicken dinner! Also this brush is amazing with it!

Elf St Lucia Bronzing and Blush Duo

Forget the blush, this bronzer does an amazing job of warming up the face, I especially like this on my neck as kind of a barrier between my face makeup and my neck tan.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Barley Branded

This colour is the perfect base for any shadows I want to use. It is fantastic alone and even better mixed with other shadows.

Maxfactor Single Shadow in Burnt Bark

This colour I liketo use alone in the crease of my eye as it gives my eye definition and the colour is fantastic for everyday use.

Covergirl Advanced Radiance Powder

I’m not a huge powder person, but this one is fantastic after I set my makeup to use as extra coverage.

NYX Blush in Pinched

The perfect blush colour in my opinion! This is my first NY product and honestly I need more!

Models Prefer Nude Lipstick in Bare

This month has been all about nudes (hehe)! I don’t know why but I always thought nudes wouldn’t look good on me as I have such light skin, but I have been using brown nude colours and I love them! They’re the perfect everyday colour.

Palmers Cocoa Butter

My face had a huge breakout for about a week straight and almost every day I was visiting drugstore to find a new product that would hopefully work and I stumbled upon this moisturizer. It’s really thick and I wouldn’t recommend it for everyday use but it worked a dream for my acne and I would recommend it if you have a bad break out!

Those were my January favourites! I hope you enjoyed it, have a lovely day/night depending on where you are! xxx

Maybelline Great Lash | REVIEW

Hey guys! My sister raves about a certain mascara, that I’ve never tried. So when I saw it I thought I should buy it, and do a first impression of it for you all.

It’s the Maybelline Great Lash mascara. There are a range of different wands that you can get with this mascara and lucky for me, I brought the smaller wand, which personally I prefer.

The mascara comes in a pink tube, with a black lid. I purchased the shade ‘blackest black’. Maybelline claims that it is: “The all-time classic mascara; conditions as it thickens, no clumps, no mess.” My natural lashes are quite long already, so I was excited to see how much difference this mascara could do. Here are my lashes before: (ps: sorry about my eyebrows, I was in desperate need to get them done and did today, the day after the pictures were taken!)

The formula, I found, was thick and spread evenly over the wand. I decided to keep one eye mascara-free to show the difference. The mascara took a few swipes to build up to a nice coverage, but it did do a fantastic job of lengthening and thickening my lashes. It wasn’t clumpy in the slightest which I also loved. The left eye has the mascara, the right eye has no mascara.

I would probably recommend this mascara to someone, although it wouldn’t be the first mascara I would jump straight to if asked for a recommendation.

See you soon x

An "omg-i-actually-got-into-uni-I-can’t-believe-it" Makeup Haul

Hello lovely beings! I have a little haul for you today. I treated myself as I found out I was accepted into my preferred university course! I could just be making up an excuse to why I bought this all in one go, but honestly I’m very proud of myself! Anyway, onto the haul!

I went to four places, and bought only beauty products. I went to Chemist Warehouse (who are having 50% off cosmetics), Priceline (the mothership), a tiny boutique, and kmart!

At Chemist Warehouse I purchased 3 things:

-Revlon Skinlights Illuminator in Rose
-Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer (a repurchase).
-Maybelline Lipstick in Coffee Craze

Next I visited Priceline, I did have a voucher from Christmas so I only really spent $9.00. I bought:

-L’Oreal Nude Magique Foundation
-L’Oreal True match Concealer
-Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer
-Model’s Prefer Nude Lipstick in Naked

Next up is kmart, I only bought clearance items though:

-Maybelline Lipstick in Nearly There
-Maybelline Blush in Light Nude

There’s a small boutique in my town, and it sells Limecrime products. I only purchased one item, a Limerime Velvetine in Salem.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my, “omg-i-actually-got-into-uni-I-can’t-believe-it” haul!

Have a fantastic night/day/morning!

Lip Product Addict Tag

Hello all! I think everyone who is interested in makeup, loves lip products. I’m a huge concealer junkie-I tell everyone that, yet I never really mention that I love lip products. I guess I kind of assume that it’s a given. I wouldn’t say I’m an addict, none of my lipsticks look alike (in my opinion) so I don’t think I have too many either. Nonetheless, and long intro over, I’m doing the Lip Product Addict Tag today.

I love these videos/posts because you can tell when something will suit you or not, if someone with the same sort of coloured skin/face shape as you wears it well. It also gives me an insight into the formulas of the products. Anyway, let’s get onto the questions!

1.       Favourite balm/treatment?

I used to use balms/chapsticks religiously. Then I saw something that said balms aren’t good for your lips as what it does, is attempts to trick your lips into thinking they’re waterproof. I’m not 100% sure how accurate this is, but I picked my two favourites. Lucas’ Pawpaw Ointment is a cult classic to everyone-my dad even uses it. I don’t care that much about the taste, but it’s just genuinely a nice ointment to soften and make you lips moist. My next favourite is Chapstick in Cake Batter. This moisturizers my lips well and tastes amazing!

2.       Best Eye-catching red?

This was quite a hard one for me as I love red lips as much as the next girl! Sometimes, when I don’t feel like wearing makeup, I’ll just put on some red lips and I’ll know people will be distracted to not notice anything else. I’m basically a magician. My favourite red lip is Rimmel Kate Moss in #107. This is a matte shade and is a deeper red. I adore it, and probably always will.

3.      Best luxury & best drugstore?

I would be lying if I said I had a lot of money to buy luxury makeup. I’m sure I will buy some sometime soon and I’ll justify it in some hideous way, but for now I’ll stick to drugstore. As my “luxury” I’m counting Limecrime. I have two limecrime lipsticks and I love them! Centrifuscia is a gorgeous bright pink, and Beautiful Rocket is a bright orange. The formulation is amazing and the colours come across so pigmented. For drugstore, I am a huge fan of the Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks (in the red tubes, may I just add). The staying power is incredible, especially for a drugstore range.

4.      Most disappointing?

When I saw this question I was like “damn what’s a bad lip product ???????” I then looked in my drawer and knew exactly what I would talk about. These were raved about so much, and I love this brand. Unfortunately these didn’t work for me in the slightest. They’re the Australis Velourlips. These were so drying and clumpy. They’re supposed to be matte, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be creamy am I right?

5.      Liner-yes or no?

Yes! I use liner mostly for underneath lipsticks, which is why they’re all nude colours. The essence liners are amazing, especially on their own!

6.      Something extra?

My current favourite nude is the Model’s Prefer Nude lipstick in Bare. This year I will hopefully get more into nude lip colours. I think they really class up a look.

Well that’s it! I might do an updated one of these in a year or more, if it changes.

Have a good day/night! x

Welcome 2015

Howdy everyone! Well, this is my first post of 2015. I feel as though I should say generic things like “2014 flew by” and “wow I haven’t seen you guys since last year!” What I am going to say, is I hope 2015 is joyous for you, remember that the world is your runway and no matter what you try to do, try your best and that’s enough to succeed.

I know New Year’s resolutions are so dumb and that if you really want to do something, you should just go ahead and do it. I completely agree, but despite that, last year I actually set myself a serious one (not like previously, where I had basically just told myself each year that I should get a boyfriend). Last year was a big one for me, I graduated high school, I got my license, and I genuinely just knew that last year would be very important. I decided to take a photo a day, upload it to a private Instagram, and the end of the year print all the photos out and put them in a book. I am so proud of myself that I actually completed it.

Here is a montage of some of my favourite parts (obviously I cant show all):

2015 is hopefully going to be filled with love. I haven’t made a New Year’s resolution this year, but I do have a couple of goals that I’d quite like to do this year (without the pressure of being a “New Year’s resolution.”)

-Stop being so bitter. Life isn’t about showing your negativity, despite your beliefs, spread the love.
-Buy a new computer. You know that yours is out of date, you know you need to get a new one, just do it, go and get a new computer. You deserve it.
-Save your money (kind of contradicts the above point), sometimes you don’t need to spend $25 on KFC chicken nuggets, no matter how god damn good they are.
-Blog more. I love my blog, and I love writing and photographing things for my blog and I want to do more of it in 2015.
-Drink more water, eat healthier and do exercise. You are young, allow your body to be that way too.
-Don't be so secretive. Finally tell someone (your sister), about your blog. It isn’t going to be as big of a deal as you’ve been making it out to be.
-Travel, and be more “in the moment” than “plan 8 months ahead”.
-WWPD? What Would P****** Do? (I can’t say the name due to confidentiality, but it is a certain teacher who influenced your life a hell of a lot last year.)

I know it seems as though I have a lot of goals, but if I half-completed all of these, I would be pretty damn happy.

A note to people reading: make 2015 your year, you are worth so much and deserve so much self-love. Respect yourself and peace out. *peace sign emoji*
