Spider Web Look for Halloween

Hello everyone! So just in case you didn’t know, it’s October. Which means it’s the month of Halloween. Personally, I don’t really like Halloween all that much and have never celebrated it, however; I wanted to do a Halloween style post for a makeup look you could wear if you didn’t want to be left out, but didn’t want to go the extremes.

This is such a simple look, I feel I could’ve made it look better if I had practiced on my leg first (just a tip) but I think it looks alright.

Anyway, onto the look!

PS: just a warning: this has a LOT of face pics, please do excuse.

Start with a fresh face. I moisturized before this and obviously you can use whichever your fave is, I personally used the Neutrogena Hydro Boost. It’s fucking incredible.

Next apply a primer. A mattifying primer is best but you can use whichever works with your skin. I used Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Primer-it’s alright.

You want a full coverage as I’m sure you’ll be out all night-while I am snuggled in bed watching orange is the new black. Anyway, I love this L’Oreal foundation; it soothes your skin well and doesn’t create lines around acne. I used a beauty blender to blend this in.

Now that you look like a demon since you’ve put foundation over your lips and haven’t set it, cover any extra bits with concealer. As I’m hideous, I usually use two or three and sometimes four. Yep. The products I used were; Sleek Concealer Kit in Light, Chi Chi Concealer in Light, and Rimmel Wake Me Up in Light. I blended these in with the beauty blender again.

Next I used my actual love, Rimmel’s Stay Matte powder. This is perfect for everything. Get this in your life if you haven’t already, which I’m sure you have.

After you’ve done this, lightly powder with a non-translucent powder. I used this Covergirl which is good because it matches my skin. Usually, I’m not a big fan of powders.

Brows are next. Do your normal routine. All eyebrows are different, and I believe we should let our natural brow shape be. I actually learnt this due to my best friend, who, when I was complaining about my think brows told me that that’s how they naturally grew and it would be a horror to maintain them thin, and that they suited me. Love her. Anyway, I use this spooly to brush out any foundation, and then use the ELF eyebrow kit to fill them in. I try and create a slight arch in my brow, as they’re not quite even.

Once you’ve filled in your brows, set them with this brow mascara. It’s actually the bomb diggity. It’s the L’Oreal Brow Plumper and comes in three colours, including a transparent one. This product will ensure your brows don’t move out of their mums house (you) and start their own life.

Next we’re onto eyes. I don’t know how people can do their eyes first, I tried once and I was a disaster. I began with the Mac Painterly Paint Pot, this is the perfect base for eyeshadow and comes in a huge amount of colours, so you will be able to find one in your skin tone. It makes eyeshadow stay on all fricking day. I use my fingertips to blend this.

Next take any black eyeshadow you have. I used the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette in the second version (semi sweet). This really holds on and is opaque. Blend this for so long because black is quite hard to move, learn from me okay I should’ve kept blending but I’m so inpatient I got bored.

I now wish I had added some silver in the outer corner, however I went straight into eyeliner as I wanted a dark look. Achieve a cat wing look. I used the Face of Australia Liquid Liner, which is incredible especially for $9 AUD. After this, I got a Maybelline Kohl Liner Pencil and lined the inside of my top eyelid, and half of my bottom.

Gotta get that contour that I don’t even really know how to do. Just try, not sure what advice I can give since I’m an amateur. I use the Sleek Contour Kit which is fantastic.

Now for the spider webs. I have so many eyeliners and it was a struggle deciding which one to use, I ended up switching it about three times. These webs don’t have to be perfect, however I should’ve practiced first. I have no clue why I didn’t. You can draw as many of these as you want.

Finally, add a lipstick. I went with red as the eyes were black yet neutral. This is Mac Rub Woo, and is quite difficult to spread over the lips smoothly, but damn did it last.

PS: I forgot to apply mascara before I took the pictures. I used Maybelline Lash Sensational.

And that’s it! That’s right, it’s super simple to do but if you want to look like you’re in the Halloween spirit when you’re really not; then look no further. Here's some more pictures:

Hope you enjoyed! Xx
